London has many great markets, but if I were a local, meeting my fellow Londoners in the city for a meal, Seven Dials Market would be my go-to spot.
This newest addition to the long list of London markets was established earlier this year. With the mission statement of bringing culture and community together under one roof, to give independence a solid place to thrive in the heart of this city, it’s no wonder Seven Dials Market has always been crowded no matter what day or time I visited it. Yes, I have been there multiple times in my two weeks in London.
Celebrating World Street Food in Seven Dials Market London
Seven Dials Market reminds me of Singapore Hawker Center, only bigger, grander, and with many more varieties. From the overflowing crowd, I guess the news is out:
From Filipino pancake to North Indian Naan; Chinese Dim Sum to French Poulet, you are guaranteed to find something to satiate your craving in Seven Dials Market.
Seven Dials Market consists of two levels of London immigrant food fiestas. The ground is filled with more stalls, some public seating areas and designated seating areas of some stalls. Meanwhile, the lower ground is more of a shared seating area, with bigger tables and an open-air concept.
It’s also where the toilet (clean) is located.
Market Bookshop
There is also a bookshop on this level, Market Bookshop. They stock cookbooks, markets and food literature. The best part though is you can browse and read the books while enjoying your food there.
Cheese and Chai My Two Recommendations for Eating and Drinking in Seven Dials Market
If you are even just semi-into cheese, don’t miss out on the world-first Cheese train bar experience here.
Secondly, I have had enough chai in London to declare that the Chai Guy stall here had the best chai.
A One Minute Guide to Seven Dials Market
If you want to eat in restaurants with designated seating areas, best to make a booking in advance or, better yet, visit the market outside the peak meal hours.
There is a bar here called Bar Nana that’s worth checking out.
Lastly, there is a photo booth near one of the Cucumber lane entrances. Time to freeze-frame some of those London memories.
