Hello from room 0231 Ovolo Nishi Hotel Canberra.
We took the train from Sydney and reached Canberra in the afternoon. We planned to dump our luggage and explore the city, but once we saw the room, we decided to take a fifteen-minute break, which turned into two hours and two Soju (we brought them from Sydney). Eventually, we dragged ourselves out and walked to the city centre for 10 minutes. We had a “meh” Biang Biang Noodle (my first time – not inclined to try again) and equally “meh” coffee and decided we had seen enough of Canberra for the day, so we headed back to the Ovolo Nishi Hotel Canberra.
I chose the Ovolo Nishi Hotel Canberra solely because I had a grand experience at the Ovolo South Yarra and hoped I would have the same here. I knew I made a good choice when I entered the room. The room is vast and wonderfully designed, and when I opened the curtain, we were greeted with a beautiful view of Black Mountain.
We borrowed books from the stylish library and watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (the best Harry Potter movie) and Black Dress. I took a shower in a bathroom more significant than my childhood bedroom and settled in for more TV watching (this time a cooking show, a guilty pleasure I inflicted on my travel companion) and wine drinking (also brought from Sydney).
When it got dark, and our wine bottle was empty, we ordered in – an extravagant room service if I may (a bucket list item – I justified it as a birthday trip anyway). The food was so good that I feel sleepy now (Jik is already asleep while holding the remote). Still, I wanted to jot down these random thoughts from room 231 at the Ovolo Nishi Hotel Canberra because good hotels are so rare that when I am in one, I want to record it so I can remember, and you can check it out next time you’re in Canberra.
