This post was supposed to be up a bit earlier, but Gilmore Girls: A Year in The Life happened. I anticipated one episode, but apparently, it was four seasoned episodes, people! So I savoured it, including candlelights, sea salt chocolate, and an electric blanket. I still have half of the Fall episode to finish, which I am keeping as a reward for writing this post.

Highlights and Happenings

Amma’s first trip to Australia. To visit moi! The whole week was filled with lots of hugs, pampering and fun time, Including us flying to Sydney to spend the weekend there, where we took a million pictures in front of the Opera House and enjoyed the stroll around the Jacaranda-filled park.

In Sydney, we stayed in an Airbnb warehouse with spiders crawling around the bed before moving out to a hotel immediately the morning after. This time, Airbnb immensely disappointed me, and that says something since I was not quickly disappointed, not even when we stayed in a stamp-sized apartment in Hong Kong.

We also chilled with Jik, the birthday girl, in Sydney. We celebrated her birthday with a hot pot meal in Chinatown. Speaking of hot pot, she made me realize that hot pot is one of my favourite cuisines. It shouldn’t have come as a surprise, really, I have had three hot pot birthday dinners in the past five years. Ha!

I made a customized KitKat, went to the Night Noodle Market twice, and bought a Beekeeper bag, which is a perfect charity; it also is a perfect bag. I went to the Dracula show in Melbourne and saw the littlest penguin in the world on Philips Island, both with Jik, who came for a weekend visit at the beginning of the month. Also, we got a tent, which will be put in the room’s nook and treated as a reading tent.

Starbucks toffee nut latte, getting a postcard from Peach, our Thanksgiving Hakata Gensuke ramen dinner, discovering another tea I love, TWG’s French Earl Grey (Jik, I think you will love it) and getting a pedicure after months. Hello Summer! Also, we had a couple of summer days here in Melbourne this lovely month. After much discussion, we had a home-cooked meal with friends yesterday and agreed on an armchair for the apartment, which we got today.

Yep, a lot to be thankful for on this month.

Work has been good, definitely better than last month. Maybe because Manda is back from the honeymoon, it’s nice to have someone I can talk anything and everything about at work. Or maybe it is because I made new friends at work after attending an Indian dinner with a bunch of colleagues at this new-to-me restaurant called Sankalp. The food was good, and the group was even better. We had so much fun that I made them promise to take me to Ms Collins, which I assumed would be like a scene from Clarke Quay. I am ready!

We went to watch Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. I was a little disappointed by the storyline and the shallow depth of the characters. Maybe the book would be better. Did you watch it? How do you like it?

On our last night in Sydney, we chilled at the hotel bar, not unlike middle-aged men, and talked about Hygge. We went through the Google image search for Hygge and pointed out which ones we could relate to. We even made a vow to keep each of her accountable by sending a Hygge snap each week. Yep, we were pretty drunk that night.

Jik kept her words, so much so by adapting Hygge to her birthday theme. Me? Nah, I didn’t get Hygge tattooed on my skin or anything like that.

There have been a couple of trips to IKEA, and the number of candles in our apartment has multiplied. Also, I may or may not have downloaded the Coffee Shop Acoustic Guitar album from iTunes.

Foodie Guide-y

I found an Indonesian restaurant in the Melbourne CBD area that we both like and is affordable! It’s called Fat Oma.

Thank You, Next!

I am looking forward to Christmas-themed everything, including setting up our Christmas tree! And in the spirit of the holiday season. I also plan to join the Writing Meetup group and am going on a road trip towards the end of the year. More about it soon, so stay tuned!
