Our weekend school trip took us to Malacca, Malaysia – or as some folks call it, Melaka. It was a blast, and let me spill the deets!
The star of the show? Jonker Street Market is the market of all markets in Malacca. It’s massive, and we totally dove headfirst into the local culture. The vibrant energy of the eclectic stalls – was a sensory overload in the best possible way.
But that’s not all. I made a few friends from our university, Kuljit and Sha. Sha not only showed us the ropes but also shared their doughnuts with the squad. Yep, real friendship right there – bonding over some sweet treats in the heart of Malaysia.
Back in Singapore, we decided to take our newfound friendship to the next level. How, you ask? Well, we hit up Gandhi’s, a local spot, to share some sambar. Now, this isn’t just a meal – it’s a culturally significant move, our version of breaking bread. The brown people’s way, you know? It was like sealing the deal on our friendship with a side of spicy goodness.
Overall, the trip was a rollercoaster of experiences, from market escapades to sharing meals that go beyond just food. Life’s all about these moments, don’t you think?
