I have a dream to travel to all of Japan’s 47 prefectures by train and experience a bit of culture in each of the prefectures. I have travelled to 17 of the 47 prefectures (crossed on the below list), and a few I wouldn’t mind revisiting. When I got some free time (and am not lazy), I plan to map the Japan train routes (#TrainNerd) that I am going to take to make this dream come true. But for now, here is the complete list of Japan’s 47 prefectures.
