I sometimes travel to Karawang, West Java, for work. On most trips, it would be Che and me. Other times, it’d just be me or us with a larger group. No matter what and who with whom, I always make a point to skip breakfast at home so I can have it in the factory.
The factory has an outdoor canteen with the best Indonesian breakfast spread. From rice, noodles, and potato (I usually have all three with a large glass of sweet hot tea) to instant noodles, Indomie, cooked to your liking – be it half-cooked noodles or double eggs topping.
Che and I call it “Sarapan Rakyat”, the people’s breakfast, which makes it almost worth waking up at 5 AM for a two-hour drive to the Karawang factory. It’ll be something I’ll miss when I leave my current job.
