Australian meat pie is one of the most iconic food in Australia. Consumed as a snack, the local delicacy is a hand-sized pie filled with minced meat, cheese, and mushroom.
My best friend said that meat pie is one of the must-try while in Australia. Hence we decided to visit Harry’s Café de Wheels in Woolloomooloo Sydney. Supporting the slogan “Home for Sydney’s Best Meat Pie”, the iconic 70 years old pie cart is world-famous for its pies served with peas.
Harry’s Café de Wheels
While my cousins were ordering, I investigated the cart.
What if Harry’s Café de Wheels’ meat pie was famous only for being famous?
What if it tasted so-so only? A Hollywood equivalent to Kim Kardashian? Then I saw Julian McMahon’s picture. He has eaten here too! And they said Russell Crowe was spotted a few times here since he lives at the nearby wharf. So if it was good for them, it was good enough for me.
I ordered The Hot Dog de Wheels. It turned out to be a really, REALLY good meat pie.
My First Meat Pie
One morning we stopped at the Pie Face to try the meat pie one Australia must eat. I had their beef pie. It was my first meat pie ever. It was nice but not as good as the one we had at Harry’s Café de Wheels. Nevertheless, when visiting Australia, you guys must try Pie Face’s pie! And they do have lots of options.
