We are so f-ing bored of Gili Island. There. A sentence I thought I would never say.
Gili Island Is.. Blah
Today was our second day with Gili Island. The heat has been unbearable from the morning. After getting the blank stare from the shopkeeper when we asked for coffee and then sipping the diluted taste of the said coffee, we were thinking to go back to Bali.
My first impression of Gili Island was that people were rude or at least not so welcoming, which is so unusual because Indonesian are generally friendly. Earlier, when my cousin was trying to haggle the price of a necklace which was sold for $20, the reply was: “If you want to cheaper price by in the market“. Rude.
I also hate the only mode of public transportation in Gili, the horse carriage. I don’t like it for the horse, the smell of horse shit and having to watch out for it all the time while walking on the road.
By afternoon, we collectively decided to go back to Bali a day earlier. Forging the paid hotel room and all. It was decided.
Gili Island Swing
We spent the rest of the afternoon by the beach, one last hurrah before leaving the island. We swam, took loads of pictures of the iconic Gili Island Swing.
Then we ate ice cream and walked until the end of the beach. In the evening we stopped by XQisit for some reflexology and later a much better-iced coffee.
Everyone went back to the hotel in a happier mood. Maybe we will give Gili another chance and stay for another night.
