Reporting from The Fishing Town Bergen Norway

2 mins read

I touched down in Bergen, Norway, high as a kite. Thanks to the space cake I shared with my cousins and Jik yesterday, on our last night in Amsterdam.

Word of advice, don’t get high a few hours before your travel, especially when you are on your period. We almost missed the flight because of me, and the only reason we didn’t was because my cousin dragged me to the airport and I, knowing how much we had to spend if we had to reschedule the flight for my mistake (more expensive as our return flight from Melbourne to Amsterdam), let them drag me.

We booked a hotel a stone’s throw away from the town centre called Scandic Byparken. The hotel is sma; the lobby has been renovated, but the rest of the hotel felt old and the room was way too small. My cousin and I were unable to open both of our luggage at the same time.

We went out soon after, and the hearty lunch of prawn bbq helped to make me feel a little better.

We spent the rest of the day roaming around the fishing town, taking tons of pictures in front of the iconic buildings, Bryggen. There, I learned that trolls are of Norwegian origin. I also got a Kuska cup as a souvenir for coffee-loving Fafa and Bryggen fridge magnets for our fridge and some friends.

In the evening, we roamed the other side of Kløverhuset and stopped at a China Palace for some MSG-ridden Chinese dinner. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at the mini-mart so I could stock up with unusual foreign supermarket findings. Unfortunately, I am too tired and full to eat anything. I just want to finish writing this and sleep quickly. God natt Berge, du er vakker!

  1. My wife and I were there – I remember the different colored houses and we went way up on a hill overlooking the bay and the city! This was maybe 15 years ago – thanks for the pictures and giving me memories back! Tom
