Berlin Diary Day 1

1 min read

We reached Berlin two hours late—why didn’t I anticipate that train companies in Europe could be this unreliable? Then we spent another 30 minutes trying to figure out where the train station was. After going up and down the same floors multiple times, we finally gave up and took a taxi from the back of Berlin Hbf, where at least thirty people were gathered, smoking. Not a great second first impression, Berlin!

€20 later (Fafa said Berlin is cheaper than Amsterdam—go figure! I wouldn’t have thought so, but it reminded me of what Ruben said regarding recession, inflation in Amsterdam due to Brexit, and all the expats flooding the Netherlands.

The DoubleTree by Hilton at Berlin Ku’damm is huge, but you know, a typical chain hotel. The staff was friendly, though—that’s something, I guess.

We are hungry; it’s time to get some late lunch or early dinner or something.
