Today is my second night in Berlin, technically the third morning as I am writing this past midnight from the stylish and semi-utilitarian apartment we Airbnb-ed during our stay here. The apartment is located in the government housing quarter (similar to HDB in Singapore or Government Housing in Melbourne).
On the first day, after checking in, we waited in the apartment for my cousin’s friend, Mita, to finish her work shift as she was our unofficial Berlin tour guide. By waiting, I mean spent a couple of hours journaling on the sofa while munching on mini pretzels we got from a stall near Alexanderplatz.
Then we started exploring this culturally rich, soulful city.
My Berlin days have been filled with visiting the Christmas market, introducing Gluhwein to my cousins (and finishing theirs when they couldn’t), eating Indonesian food, exploring an architect-ly pleasing government building, Photoautomat-ing, taking pictures at coffeeshops, being awe-ed by the yellow tram, and learning history alongside the Berlin wall (I bought a piece of it as a souvenir for Appa), wearing beanies, happy times with my cousins, chasing beautiful sunsets and eating mini pretzels.
I want to come back here again, with Fafa, next time. And you know what? I think I want to live here for at least some time.
