Viele grüße aus Berlin Airbnb!
It’s our last night in Berlin. We landed in the city a couple of days ago. I am feeling a little mellow about leaving Berlin. In the span of a few days, the city of street art has captured my heart.
Our Berlin Airbnb apartment is located in the city centre in the Mitte district, with the closest train station being the famous Alexanderplatz. I think the apartment building is a part of government-subsidized housing as it reminded me of Singapore HDB.
Berlin Airbnb Displaying the Dutch Practicality Culture
In a word, our Berlin Airbnb apartment was, well, functional.
Supporting minimalist furniture and decor, everything in the place was white except for the TV, the leather sofa and cushions, and the curtain. The bedroom was almost like a hospital ward, with no decoration whatsoever. It was the soberest Airbnb I have ever stayed in.
I can’t remember whether this was a sunrise or a sunset. Nevertheless, the sky was gorgeous.
But the view captured my heart, especially because it was during my favourite season, Autumn. From the living room windows of the Berlin Airbnb, I could see the Berlin tower, while the bedroom windows had a view of the neighbouring blocks.
My cousins and I sat in the living room for hours discussing random stuff while munching on chilli pretzels. At night we would buy back Berlin street food to be eaten inside while sharing a couple of bottles of wine.
I have a feeling I will be coming back to Berlin. Maybe I will, not as a tourist, but as an immigrant. As I think, similar to Melbourne, though the city might be a bit sombre for travellers, it’s a great place to live. And when I do, I would love to stay in the same area, but I will definitely decorate it better.
