As the sweat drips onto my borrowed yoga mat, I have this notion: I feel like Ubud slowly changing me. I am a different person than I am in Melbourne. For once, I am practically naked compared to me in Melbourne, living with layered clothes 10 months out of date. Also, though I don’t think it’s easy to become a vegetarian, Ubud, with its’ delicious veggies and delicious tempeh tofu, which is kinda a staple, feels like a safe space to start the journey. Personally, forget the vegs – give me warm white rice, sambal embe and crackers, and I am a happy girl. Also, this thing is so close to nature and water, albeit the latter being a pool, is good life and I can see the positive affect on me – even if it’s only 5 days. Insert eye-roll emoji.
During Melbourne lunchtime, I decided not to waste my Ubud vacation time by continuously working, so I jumped in the pool instead. I was back at my desk, working on a report due EOD in an hour, super refreshed, slightly famished, and ready to get tipsy soon.
Life is good. Life is even better in Ubud.
