I’ve learned that I tend to be greedy about food in Bali because we came from Melbourne, where the same meal would cost five times as much but not be half as good. Also, aren’t we allowed to be greedy during the Dead Week?
Dead Week
I wish there were manual things to do during the Dead Week, like allowing light stretching, but yoga and running are not permitted. But that defeats the purpose of the dead week. When nothing is allowed, but everything is permitted. The only rule is there is no rule.
As you can see from the paragraph above, I’ve stopped using my brain as much as I am officially done with work for the year and finally entering the Dead Week with the rest of you.
I worked and Gojek breakfast.
Warung Men Weti in Sanur
Gojek-ing breakfast has been one of the constant highlights of my days in Canggu. This time, I got Nasi Campur from Warung Men Weti in Sanur. The Nasi package comes with shredded chicken, fried chicken skin, eggs, skewers, Indo salad, some noodles and a wee bit of chilli paste. I also got Indonesian crackers and iced tea separately. It was absolutely delicious.
WF-Canggu Itinerary
Once I finished work, we visited Cura “Gallery”, which was more of an overpriced crystal store than a real gallery. We then went to Samm’s Farm Coffee, which was located opposite it. The place looked hipster-y, and so was the decor. The service was good, but the coffee was horrendous. I am slowly realizing Canggu was not the place for us as it’s filled with things that look good but taste terrible.
Then we were stuck in traffic for 3 hours today to and from Seminyak to eat Bebek at Bebek Tepi Sawah, which was not half as good as the Bebek we had from the same branch in Ubud. After the whole saga, we were ready to turn in early for the day. Something that’s also utterly acceptable during the Dead Week.
