After making a bit of Australia road trips, with Ballarat being the latest one couple of weeks ago, I realised there is a rule to a good Australia road trip; let’s call it the Australia road trip trifecta cooler.
Scenic Views
The best part of the Australia road trip is the road trip itself, as this country has gorgeous ever-changing landscapes everywhere we go. Small towns, waterfalls, farms, mountains, seaside, and wineries exist. You name it. Australia has it.
Listening to the songs on your Spotify road trip playlist, getting a second cup of coffee in the next town (and smugly comparing it with Melbourne’s coffee if you are from Melbourne); stopping over at 7-11 because you have finished all your snacks before 10 AM and daydreaming accompanied by the scenic views along the road is the way to make a road trip.
Also, there will be a scenic lookout worth visiting in every small town in Australia. Don’t miss it!
Wine & Dine
Australia Road Trip Trifecta That You Should Embrace. Australia is one of the top ten wine regions globally, and none here would bat their eyes when you start drinking as early as breakfast. I know this from plenty of personal experience. Do a little research on a good eatery at your road trip destination. There will be a few to choose from, and the chances are they will be in the town centre area. This would be a perfect reason to stop over to rest, explore the town area and have a boozy meal. Don’t forget to shop a little to support the local economy.
Gallery
A gallery visit is the last must-do on every single Australia road trip. Whether it’s a quirky little gallery shop filled with refurbished junk that you can buy or a full-on paid gallery like the Skull exhibition in Ballarat, there is always something interesting to see. And the best thing about visiting the gallery is the final stopover at the gift shop. I always find gorgeous wearable art made by local artists in each gallery I visit during my road trip saga.
Bonus point: Schedule your Australia road trip based on local festivals. That way, you get to enjoy more of Australia’s local culture.
