It has been two months since we moved to WeFo, and I feel like I am finally home in Melbourne.
I love walking on Barkley St, passing the Indian grocery store, and catching Indian songs blasting through the outside speakers. It brings me joy whenever I step on the manhole bearing the Olympic Donuts at Footscray train station. I can’t help but get fixated on the Franco Cozzo building on the way to the city, and I always turn my head to check out the empty Jimmy Wong restaurant, hoping to see the successor of the Chinese food legacy.
Footscray, and WeFo by extension, is filled with reminders of food, fusion and people – of what was, what is and what will be. and I, for one, treasure that.
This month…
We got a new plant for the house.
And we also got Black Star Pastry Watermelon Cheesecake to celebrate Fafa becoming an Aussie.
Jik sent me a high-tea home package with a virtual high-tea date.
Fafa cooked me a delicious steak.
I made shakshuka, which is perfect for winter weather.
And we went to Harley & Rose for a pizza night date.
I also celebrated Blogiversary – nine years of blogging!
We played virtual UNO.
I had the most delicious cheese dips we got from Footscray Fromagerie.
I also made chicken curry, and Fafa made the most delicious salad.
And he also made me an avocado-toast breakfast.
