I started my day in Dubai, accompanying Amma for 3 hours in one gold shop, examining every single piece of gold jewellery displayed. Twice. We tried so many things there, and it made her happy, which made me happy. It was also somewhat fun for me.
I am turning into Amma. I am turning into an Indian mom!
By the time we came out of the shop, I had a conversation with every shopkeeper, who mostly came from India, amused with me speaking Bahasa and more amused when I recited a few Mallu words.
We then spent the whole afternoon, mostly getting lost, in the Dubai Mall. Window shopping for all the brands I have never heard of. It’s filled with fancy stuff, the most beautiful ladies and nice-smelling gentlemen. The whole mall oozed richness with an indoor souk and hidden little cafes that served macaroons.
In the evening, we went to Dubai creek. Here, you can pay one Dirham and take pictures on the boat, making a very Instagram-able shot.
