London Diary

OMG, I’m in London!

2 mins read

I woke up today, looked out the window, and thought, “OMG, I’m in London!” The realization came a bit late, I know. It’s day four now, and yeah, let’s blame the jet lag. But now, with the jet lag that messed us up finally wearing off, I’m fully aware—I’m in London.

We are in London.

The city feels like Melbourne—only bigger, better, bolder, and, if possible, more diverse! I know I’ve only been here a few days, with half that time blurred by jet lag and 24-hour travel exhaustion, but still, that’s the impression I have gathered so far.

Yesterday, Fafa said something interesting: “Did we screw ourselves up by coming to London? Because now we’re in love with it“.

His observation brought on the inevitable what-ifs for me. I find myself dreaming about possibilities—past, present, and future.

I’d love to have been a student living in London a couple of decades ago—maybe near the flower market. Or perhaps I’d love to live here as an older woman—a wealthy, stylish old lady in a terrace house with a dark green door.

Fafa kept mentioning how beautiful London is at night—at least, as late as we’ve managed to stay up these past few days. We promised each other that once we fully recovered from the jet lag, we’d stay out late and truly experience it.

London makes me want to live fully—to explore, try new things, and become a new version of myself. There’s something about this city. I told Fafa I want to come back and really do London—whether for a month or a year. And I haven’t even been here a whole week! London has captured my heart and filled my head with dreams of the future.
