I am typing this from a window seat in a fancy-looking Melbourne cafe called Top Paddock Cafe in Richmond. It is five minutes (including a minute bridge crossing) from Fanuli building, the all-glass office building-looking apartment I am staying in South Yarra.
I am waiting for my ex-manager-now-friend Jen, who was kind enough to offer to take me out for brunch and “chit-chat about Melbourne.”
Jen is running late, so she asked me to get coffee first. I did—flat-white. It was good coffee- it made me ponder whether Top Paddock Cafe will be my go-to coffee/brunch place in Melbourne. I guess it’s too early to tell. It’s only my third day in Melbourne.
And it’s cold—I am wearing a sweater. I hope Jen doesn’t find it weird or, worse yet, uncool. I need friends in Melbourne!!
Also, why is Melbourne cold? It’s March??
This morning, I woke up tired—it could be jet-lagged or, more like, post-goodbye and travel drainage and the cold obvs doesn’t help.
Either way, I am semi-dreading going to work tomorrow; maybe I can bitch about it to Jen. Oh, here she comes!
—continued adjustment, here we go!
