Salamanca Market totally lived up to the hype for our weekend in Tasmania, getting the thumbs up from our local pals. I decided to make it the birthday weekend spot, and damn, it didn’t disappoint. We found Salamanca Market right smack in the city centre, the same place we had a killer dinner the night before.
Salamanca Market reminded me of Bürklimäärt in Zurich, but Salamanca Market had way more going on. First things first, coffee. Fafa was all about Tasmania’s coffee scene, boldly claiming it’s second only to Melbourne.
Wandering through the stalls, we did the chill tasting, watching people and listening to a street band doing their thing. I saw some cool succulents, but sadly, they weren’t making the trip back with us.
Salamanca Market had it all – art, eclectic stuff, and, of course, that one thing I didn’t manage to snag. Even with the fleeting nature of it all, the vibe and fresh produce left a mark.
I was on a mission to find an Indonesian food stall showcasing the market’s diverse scene that screams Australia’s multicultural flavours. But no luck.
Spending just over an hour soaking it all in, I wished we had more time. Salamanca Market was the high point of our Tassie adventure, where the local beats and global finds collided. Good times, good vibes – definitely worth a visit.
